"This is the true story of how I went from living on my sofa, binging on Netflix and Prime (feeling like crap, not knowing there was something better for me) to rediscovering my passion and purpose in life without listening to yet another podcast, reading an ebook, or attending my umpteenth webinar!"

CRISSY'S JOURNEY

It was almost my birthday so I wanted to get myself something nice.

ALSO, the voice telling me to pick up a drum and play it kept getting more AND MORE insistent.

I caved in, thinking, "what's the worse that could happen?"

A week later, the buffalo drum arrived. It came with a beater (a cloth-wrapped stick covered by foam on one end) to save your hand from getting tired.

I started lightly beating on the drum. It sounded like sh*t because I didn't know how to play. No matter, I felt good so I'd play 5 minutes per day for the next 7 days.

Week 2, I extended drum-playing to 10 minutes EVERY DAMN DAY.

Weeks 3 and 4, I started to play using my fingers. I learned how to hold the drum properly with good posture. I now easily played for 20 minutes using 8 fingers of both hands.

Week 5, I was at 30 minutes drumming daily. I felt quite peaceful and REALLY powerful. It was such a change from my old normal.

Week 6, I would wake up and drum! I didn't time-limit my sessions anymore, I would just play in an inspired state. If I didn't drum that morning, I would drum before bed! I would go to sleep blissfully. For the first time in my life,  I feel fully like myself!

Week 7, no matter how busy my life became with work or chores, I would play for 5 minutes and it would be enough. There were days I would play for an hour. I discovered that playing with other music (in the background) or pre-recorded instruments LET ME FLOW LIKE MAGIC.

Week 8, I realized I was confident about everything in my life! The drum beats led me home. I was grounding to beats, my body felt so vibrant and alive. I felt such profound peace and happiness with just being me.

WHAT HAPPENED?
WHO / WHAT WAS THAT VOICE?

This was my higher self/intuition communicating with me.

When I was numbing myself with Netflix, I was actually looking for answers to my question "What's Next?" EXCEPT I didn't know how or where to go to get them!

My intuition knew the answer and presented it to me. It used a voice (not one I physically heard or knew about) that would make me pay attention.

This voice spoke to me (it was in my head), telling me what to do even if I didn't understand the reason for it.

I AM GLAD I LISTENED TO IT! I am glad I listened to the part of me that knew better.

I have been so transformed by this experience. I am sharing the methods and mindset that helped me uncover my true self effortlessly!

4 EASY WAYS TO BEAT IMPOSTOR SYNDROME

  1. Ask Questions -- Challenge the thoughts that say "I'm an impostor." Where is this coming from? Let your brain seek out answers about the truth of who you are. In reality, you are smart and talented. You care enough to make sure you're representing yourself and your skills or services properly to your clients or employers. This is a great place to be because you will never do incomplete work, slack off, or turn out shoddy work. Complacency is the enemy of innovation.

  2. Appreciate and Accept Where You Are -- If a certain job requires you to upgrade skills you are missing, acknowledge that. It's ok to not know everything. Be kind to yourself and appreciate that you now have an opportunity to receive more training and education to remedy the situation!

  3. Do What You Can Right Now -- Act on what you can do, with the skills and knowledge you do have. Ask for help if you need it. There is always someone you know that would be happy to help you.

  4. Allow and Enjoy -- If more thoughts come up about you feeling like an impostor, observe them like you would a car passing you by. The more you resist or deny it, the more difficult it will be to coexist. There is nothing wrong with observing thoughts that are like this. Let it flow through you. Impostor Syndrome is just a pattern. You can teach yourself new patterns to replace these thoughts.

BONUS: Start learning something new -- this breaks an existing pattern loop (like Impostor Syndrome) which is just an ANT (automatic negative thought). You get rid of ANTs by reconditioning your mind or rewiring your brain. Drumming is one of the most fun ways to re-train your body and mind to receive information and accept healing. Below is a free instructional video. The link will bring you to YouTube where I teach you the elements earth, wind, fire, and water as well as the tones and strokes on a hand drum.
